A journey to give Aaira her hearing
Our three-year-old daughter, Aaira Binth Ibrahim Thasleem, has bilateral profound hearing loss — she cannot hear at all. We are currently in Trivandrum, India, for her cochlear implant surgery.
Aasandha, Maldives' national health scheme, has covered a large part of her treatment costs, but we still need to cover significant out-of-pocket treatment expenses and other costs ourselves. We have already been in India for almost three months, and after the surgery, Aaira will need to stay for at least three more months for follow-up care, cochlear implant mapping, and speech therapy.
Given our family's financial situation right now, meeting these costs has become very difficult. We humbly ask for the support of our family, friends, and anyone willing to help. Even the smallest contribution means a great deal — it's a chance to continue Aaira's treatment and give her the gift of hearing and the ability to learn to speak.
